The only reason I’m posting this is that this is one of my most viewed photos at Flickr. While I don’t think the picture of the Panda Bear is bad at all, I actually like a number of other Panda pictures that I took at the Chiang Mai Zoo that day. I guess it just a matter of taste…I largely enjoy doing a lot of close-up photography work.
Panda bears seem to be the least aggressive of all of the bear species to me. Polar bear attack? Heard of it. Grizzly Bear? Definitely. Even the Malay Sun Bear seems like it could be aggressive towards humans. But I haven’t heard of any stories (of a wild panda at least) attacking humans.
This photo was taken at the Chiang Mai Zoo in Thailand a few years ago. Believe it or not, the Thai TV stations even have a channel dedicated to the Panda Bears housed at the zoo (the pandas apparently like sleeping a great deal!).
This picture of a Jaguar was modified using Picnik from this original here. As you can see from the original, the glass of the cage put some strange aberrations in the photo that couldn’t be easily corrected with any of the tools I had at my disposal (I don’t use Photoshop because I haven’t had the time to really learn it). I used Picnik to change the color to black & white, played around with the contrast a little bit, and then went for a focal zoom effect on Picnik to create some “movement” in the picture.
